Child Safety Standards

Last updated: 28 July 2026.

FIRL is an app that helps you and your friends arrange to meet in real life. It is operated by Balthasar Siekiera (“we”, “us”). This page sets out our standards against the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, and how we act on them. It is part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Our commitment

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Using FIRL to create, store, request, share, or transmit such material, or to groom, solicit, sextort, traffic, or otherwise sexually exploit a minor, is strictly prohibited. There is no exception to this rule.

Age restrictions

You must be at least 16 years old to use FIRL, as stated in our Terms of Service. FIRL is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under this age to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the required age, we suspend and remove it. These standards protect all minors under the age of 18, including users aged 16 and 17.

How FIRL is built to reduce risk

FIRL is a closed, invite-only network by design, which limits the ways a child could be contacted by a stranger:

Reporting abuse to us

If you believe someone is using FIRL to harm a child, or you encounter child sexual abuse material or exploitative behaviour, report it to us as soon as possible:

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services and law enforcement directly, in addition to reporting to us.

How we respond

When we receive a credible report, or otherwise become aware of CSAE or CSAM, we act. Depending on the case we will:

Compliance with the law

We comply with the child safety laws and regulations that apply to FIRL, and with our reporting obligations regarding child sexual abuse material. We cooperate with law enforcement and child protection authorities in accordance with applicable law and lawful process.

Point of contact

Questions about these standards, and reports of child safety concerns, can be sent to our designated child safety point of contact at [email protected].

Updates

We review and update these standards as FIRL evolves and as our legal obligations change. The current version is always available at https://firl.app/legal/child-safety.
